Hello, this is Haegeumgang Theme Museum. We are pleased to introduce the 85th artist of the 12th Geoje International Art Festival "Culture and Arts", Fabiana Fontes.

Born in Porto, Portugal, in 2005 and raised by a visual artist father, this artist developed a creative sensibility from childhood. While her career has primarily evolved in the performing arts, she practices self-taught drawing to explore her visual language. Heavily influenced by Henri Matisse's Fauvism, Andy Warhol's Pop Art, and Tim Burton's imaginary universes, her work features expressive colors and stylized forms. Thematically, she focuses on portraiture and an idyllic, fantastic nature filled with elements like fairies and mushrooms as a vital means of personal expression.

This drawing is a social metaphor that calls for unity in a world that wants to silence us. The four elements with different faces (a clown, a fairy, Jack Skellington, and an animated character) seem not to belong to the same place, but in reality, they are a whole. They have

a common location: a large house that unites them, representing the arts with their culture and essential appreciation for social progress.

The 12th Geoje International Art Festival will be held for three months at the Yukyung Art Museum within the Haegeumgang Theme Museum, from October 1, 2026, to December,25, 2026.

The theme of this year's exhibition is “Culture and Arts.” Culture is the vessel that holds life across eras, and art is the creative spark that illuminates that culture most brilliantly. The artist weaves cultural inspirations accumulated through history and life into her work with a unique perspective. Through this, visitors will experience the profound value of art that connects time and space, fostering deep cultural resonance.

Under the theme “Culture and Arts,” the 12th Geoje International Art Festival will be a place where artists from around the world gather to contemplate and share the social and cultural values of art. It serves as a platform for international artistic exchange and a precious opportunity to communicate with the public through high-quality art.
