No ano de 2007 em Itália, durante uma escavação arqueológica liderada por Elena Menotti, foi descoberto um casal abraçado, calcula-se que tenham entre 5000 a 6000 anos, teriam menos de 20 anos quando morreram, visto as suas arcadas dentárias estarem quase inteiramente intactas e não estarem gastas, a descoberta foi feita perto de Mântua, um dos ‘’cenários’’ onde se passa a famosa tragédia de William Shakespeare, Romeu e Julieta. Os arqueólogos, decidiram manter o casal abraçado e encontram-se desde 11 de Abril de 2014 expostos no Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Mantova.
Foi nesse abraço eterno, que me inspirei para esta obra, ficaram conhecidos como os amantes de Valdaro, presto a minha homenagem a essa imagem de amor romântico, do período neolítico.
